At The John Cameron Changing Lives Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of music, community, and courageous vulnerability.

Inspired by the deeply personal journey of founder, John Cameron—whose father, John Wayne Cameron, faced his own mental health challenges—the foundation was created in response to the silent suffering too many endure. Named in his father’s honour, it stands as a testament to the importance of breaking the silence around mental health.

When John sat with his father during one of his hardest moments, the first words he heard were:
“Don’t tell anybody about what happened.”

In that moment, John realized how deeply shame can silence people—and how powerful the need is to be accepted amid our suffering. 

Our foundation’s mission is to inspire lasting change by leveraging the power of music and community. We are dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental illness-one note, one song, and one life at a time.

Using the healing and transformative power of music, we raise critical funds for mental health programs, children’s hospitals, and schools, while offering platforms for people to connect, and heal.

CRESCENDO, one of the foundation’s signature shows, raises funds for mental health resources for children, youth and young adults in our province. More importantly, it creates space for people to share their mental health journeys and offer hope. 

To date, the foundation has raised over $600,000 towards mental health programs and services—but there is so much more to do.
